1882 Rosé

In 1882, Captain Gustave Niebaum produced his first vintage wine. Niebaum’s status as one of the leading pioneers of Napa Valley’s wine industry inspired us to produce our 1882 Rosé on the same land.

Tasting Notes

The wine opens with a burst of fresh watermelon, offering a delightful juiciness that immediately captivates the senses. As you delve deeper, the fragrance of blooming jasmine and gentle sweetness of orange blossom add an aromatic complexity. An underlying hint of flint lends a touch of minerality that provides structure and depth. The wine’s long, fresh finish is a pleasure to enjoy.

Vintage Notes

The 2022 vintage unfolded gracefully as the soil retained moisture from early rains. The reduced need for extensive irrigation resulted in healthy canopies followed by early bloom and veraison. Mild July temperatures and classically cool Napa Valley summer nights preserved the freshness and acidity in our Rose´. The warmth of August contributed to achieving their optimal ripeness at harvest which commenced on September 1st and concluded on September 29th.

Tasting Notes

The 2023 Rosé greets you with inviting aromas of strawberry and peaches on the nose. It is balanced, crisp, and clean on the palate, making it an ideal summer wine. The finish is long and harmonious, leaving a refreshing impression. The wine showcases a beautiful light pink coral color, enhancing its appeal.

Vintage Notes

A winter of generous rainfall provided abundant soil moisture to start the 2023 growing season. Wet and cold winter soils contributed to timely bud break, while a cool early spring prolonged the development from bud break through bloom. Thanks to the abundant soil moisture, the canopies flourished and ensured the vines had ample resources for ripening the crop. Bloom occurred in June under ideal conditions, with perfect temperatures and humidity for a successful fruit set. The warmth of summer brought the growing season to a close with excellent ripening of our grapes, keeping their freshness and minerality in balance. The long, cool 2023 season provided ideal conditions for the fruit comprising our 1882 Rosé, achieving the perfect level of acidity by the end of the season. Harvest for our 1882 Rosé began on September 11th and concluded on October 9th.

Vintage Notes

Bud break for the 2024 white and rosé vintage showed up right on time in early April, just after a stretch of cool, rainy days. By mid-May, the sun was shining and bloom rolled through the vineyards like clockwork. Spring and summer brought classically warm days balanced by cool nights. August arrived as the second coolest in a decade—perfect for locking in the crispness and clarity we love in our wines. With cool breezes and gentle sun, August and September set the stage for beautifully balanced rosé. The 1882 Rosé harvest began on September 4th, unfolding slowly until October 1st—each pick capturing the ideal growing season in every berry.
