Tasting Notes
This stellar rendition of Edizione Pennino Zinfandel opens dramatically with enticing scents of crushed strawberries, blueberries, and cherries. Floral notes of dried rose petals emerge thereafter with the sensual fragrance of cloves and incense. The exuberant quality of the nose carries onto the palate where fresh, lively flavors of raspberries, spiced plums and seasoned wood increase in volume and flood the palate. Finely integrated tannins harness the fruit’s lushness to create a round, full body yet the richness of this wine is perfectly balanced by natural acidity. Having aged in French and American oak barrels, our 2014 Pennino Zinfandel presents intriguing earthy spice notes all the way through the long, generous finish.
Vintage Notes
Edizione Pennino Zinfandel portrays the unique creation of Zinfandel using Morisoli and Werle clones grown on the Inglenook Estate in Rutherford, Napa Valley. The Zinfandel 2014 growing season was dry causing slow growth in the canopy throughout the Spring. The small canopy coupled with Inglenook’s dry farming practices put the ideal amount of stress on the vines which were optimized to develop fruit with complex aromatics and rich concentration. Inglenook’s Zinfandel is composed to be less aggressive on the palate with lower alcohol.

Tasting Notes
Red garnet in color, the 2016 Edizione Pennino Zinfandel exhibits warm aromas of ripe, brambly blackberries, with notes of allspice, clove, and white pepper. The entry on the palate is opulent, yet fresh, yielding to dusty, well-textured tannins that carry the wine into a long, softly-rounded finish.
Vintage Notes
A winter with average rainfall, following four years of drought, provided ample soil moisture to kick off the 2016 growing season. Early spring was warm, triggering rapid, healthy canopy growth. Average late-spring temperatures and limited rainfall reduced the risk of frost during mid-May bloom, ensuring average yields. June closed with a heat spell, slowing vine canopy growth at the ideal time. The Zinfandel harvest began with the Gate blocks on September 2nd, followed by the older dry-farmed parcels on September 5th. The weather was moderate, producing intact berries with very little dehydration.

Tasting Notes
With its vibrant violet-hued ruby color, the 2017 Edizione Pennino Zinfandel is youthful in appearance. Aromas are complex, ranging from ripe strawberry and black raspberry to warm blackberry pie, clove, and a hint of blood orange zest. The wine is velvety, generous, and round. This is a classic example of Inglenook Zinfandel.
Vintage Notes
In 2017, Inglenook’s organically farmed estate vineyard received bountiful rainfall throughout winter and spring – nearly 50 inches. Fueled by the abundant rain, bud break occurred ten days earlier than it had the previous year, which foreshadowed an earlier harvest. Temperatures throughout the growing season were steady, except for three brief periods of heat during the summer. The Zinfandel vines were harvested by hand from the first to the third week of September.

Tasting Notes
Deep garnet in color, the 2018 Pennino Zinfandel is immediately appealing, with aromas of warm strawberry-rhubarb pie, clove, and ripe boysenberry. In the mouth, the wine is dense, with good weight and fine, rounded tannins. Refreshing acidity and sweet oak support the elongated finish.
Vintage Notes
The 2018 vintage produced a generous Zinfandel crop of excellent quality. Well-timed precipitation in the spring gave the growing season a good start. Bloom in late May and moderately warm temperatures paved the way for our first Zinfandel pick on the gently-sloping Gate blocks behind the Chateau on September 27th. After a few days we brought in fruit from our dry-farmed blocks at the west end of the Rutherford bench. The 2018 Pennino harvest was completed on October 1st with the Saddle and Bridge blocks.

Tasting Notes
The 2019 Edizione Pennino Zinfandel is dark ruby red in color, with a purple edge. The nose is very focused, showing ample ripe fruit aromas of plum, clove, and ultra- ripe blueberry and blackberry. The wine is sweet, plush, and generous in the mouth, with very round, velvety tannins that create a sense of warmth and balance on the finish.
Vintage Notes
Plentiful winter rainfall heralded an early start to the 2019 growing season for our Zinfandel blocks. Budbreak arrived early, followed by well-timed bloom and veraison. Moderate weather in the summer and early fall led to excellent timing for our Zinfandel to fully ripen at the end of September. Both the newer trellised blocks and the older head-trained, dry farmed blocks on the back of the estate reached optimal ripeness on September 28th, which we now refer to as “Zinfandel Saturday.” The remaining few blocks close to the Chateau were harvested a few days later on October 1st. Very gradual final ripening during the extended period between veraison and harvest explains the superb condition and classic Zinfandel flavors of the harvested fruit.
